First timers are very, very important at Camp Chateagay. We have a wide geographic mix of children – from all over the world – and they are very friendly and down to earth. Every camper finds it easy to meet new friends with similar interests. We get everyone involved in activities they love, and being here become second nature for each first timer.

	It helps to have a Big Brother or Big Sister Our Northern Lights campers – second oldest age group here – arrive at camp and immediately establish a buddy system for first time and younger campers. Big Brothers and Big Sisters become great friends for these young folks: Wave to each other on the path Sometimes eat together Partner during evening activities Save some free time to talk about anything on their minds These relationships often extend for years here at Camp Chateaugay. Taking great care of littler people is our biggest source of pride.
